About the Event
The Event
Last Strike is the final episode in the Town Assault series of events. It marks the final battle between the US/UK coalition and the UCLA insurgents.
However, this event will be structured like no TA event before it. Last Strike will not be a continuous 24 hour airsoft event. Instead the weekend will be broken down into a series of sub-plots that allow the story to unfold during the course of the event. Using this approach we can:
- Unfold the underlining story in structured manner.
- Be able to communicate the current situation in more easily during the breaks between the action.
- Allow the players rest times at appropiate moments and thus maximising the number of players in game for when the action is well and truely kicking off.
- Allows players re-group, re-supply, eat, sleep and get fully up to date with the situation on the ground.
In reality, each phase of weekend can vary in length between 2 and 4 hours. The longest downtime will be between 0000 and 0600. It is clear over the previous four event, as well as from observing other 24hr format games, that only 10% or less of the players actually play during the night. Because of this, there will be a cease-fire between 0000 and 0600.
One significant change at this event will be that only pyro bought on site can be used at the event. This is a policy I have refrained from using in the past, but experiences at previous events have forced me to take this path. However, the pyro sold at all the events so far have been sold at very competitive prices and this we will continue to do.
Booking
The booking pages will be available within the next couple of weeks. The booking system will operate much the same as the previous event, but the only difference is that there will be less information to supply initially about the other members on your booking (if you are booking as a team).
I would very strongly encourage teams to book under one booking because that will ensure that all the members of your team can be giving places at the event. It is quite frustating when team pulls out because only 6 of the 12 members secured a place, simply because they all booked individually. Consequently, I will need the full details of the person making the booking but I will only need the name and email address of any other places being reserved as part of the same booking.
So the reservation system will allow you to reserve your places for the event from which point you will be given 14 days to pay the deposit of £45. The remaining £30 should be paid at the gate when you arrive on site.
All deposits should be paid using Paypal, although if you are paying by debit/credit card then you do NOT have to have a PayPal account.
The Site
Caerwent is a major training area covering over 1,500 acres (600 hectares), capable of sustaining up to 1,000 troops. There are not only over 400 buildings and bunkers on the site, but also an operating railway and a comprehensive road system, for logistics exercises and driver training.
For Last Strike, we have access to 400 acres of the training area, including the use of 20 buildings that can be entered and fought within. However, there are more buildings within the gaming area that can be fought around but not entered. The railway sections are out of bounds but their is a significantly large road network within the gaming area.
