Fear of Oil Crisis Over BTC Pipeline
With the fighting increasing on the northern and eastern borders of the Nagorno-Karabakh region, the eyes of Western Goverments have turned to the BTC pipeline.
Although Azerbaijan forces have managed to push in to the northern territories of the Nagorno-Karabakh, the threat of an attack on the BTC pipeline is still very real.
Azerbaijan Reserves are tasked with the defence of the pipeline along the 100 mile stretch which is located within the area of the conflict.
If an attack was to come then it is expected to be from Armenian airbourne elements. Click here for more detailed news updates.
Phoenix Rising II
The BTC Pipeline
In case you are not aware already, the bid for Copehill Down Village has been lost due to British Army training needs. This was always a risk with a village such as CDV and is the reason why I did not want to open the bookings until everything had been approved.
It has been asked why I advertised the event before I had confirmation. Well for 1, you can never have an absolute guarantee that a civilian bid will not be cancelled by the MOD. 2. With the event so close to Christmas I want everyone to know well in advance so that those who wanted to attend could have more time to pay for their tickets before the expences of Christmas kicked in.
The Backup Plan
But a backup plan has been put in to effect with the event now be re-located to the Celieni Village within the Sennybridge Training Area, in Wales, with the event taking place on the 15/16 November.
This is an excellent FIBUA village located on the edge of the Brecon Beacons and was used for the first Phoenix Rising event back in April.
Is there a chance we could lose this village? The answer is yes, but there is a lot less risk of this happening due to the timings of the training taking place before and after the weekend.
What is Phoenix Rising
Phoenix Rising is the new series of event created by TA Events. Phoenix Rising 1 started at Sennybridge in April and followed the events of a US & Azerbaijan special force's raid against and potential terrorist cell within Azerbaijan.
The Phoenix Rising events, like the Town Assault events that preceeded the current series are Military Simulation Airsoft events that mainly take place on British Army training facilities.
These events focus on using rules to realistically simulate a battle environment during an intense 24 hour engagement. Strict camo rules are used to aid distinguising between friend and foe. Ammo restrictions are used to simulate the limited quantity of ammunition soldiers take in to battle. Strong unit communications are encouraged with the use of 4 watt radio's.
All of this comes together to create a weekend event of furious and intense action where players are totally immersed within a simulated battle environment.
The BTC Pipeline
The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline (sometimes abbreviated as BTC pipeline) is a crude oil pipeline that covers 1,768 kilometres (1,099 mi) from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli oil field in the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea.
It connects Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan; Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia; and Ceyhan, a port on the south-eastern Mediterranean coast of Turkey, hence its name. It is the second longest oil pipeline in the world after the Druzhba pipeline.
The first oil that was pumped from the Baku end of the pipeline on May 10, 2005 reached Ceyhan on May 28, 2006.
For the Russian Ultra-nationalists, this is the final objective of their series of plots that has so far ended the cease fire of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenian and the NKR Repuplic and brought the region back in to conflict.
The BTC pipeline has been the source of Azerbaijans heavy military investment, and without it, Azerbaijan would have to seek another route for their Caspian Sea oil production.
This will be the ultra-nationalists last and final blow before returning to the motherland.
But what about the Event
If you took part in the Town Assault 1 and Town Assault 2 events then you will have a pretty good idea of how this event is going to be played out.
- Both forces will operate from a fixed command post.
- More inaccurate targetting of mortar shells and fast air support.
- More focus on team work between units.
We are going to be packing it in for this weekend, we have the big bangs, the vehicles, the emphasis on medics, the Battle Command system, and every other great gaming experience you have seen during TA Events games.
How to book a place for the event
Well the booking engine will be made available around the middle of September. The exact date will be published 1 week before tickets are due to become available.
Full details about booking information can be found on the booking page.
Bookings can be made for individuals or as a group booking.
Payment of £55 deposit will be required within 7 days of making your booking.
The balance of £30 will be required in cash at the event.
Survey results of PR1
8/10Is how players rated PR1 based on a customer satisfaction survey sent to players after the event. Future events will also be followed by a survey to we can learn from the players experiences.
This is because TA Events tries to make every effort to listen to the players views and to make sure every event can only lead to a better player experience for every future event.

Entering the UK with Airsoft weapons
The Violent Crime Reduction Bill was implemented in the UK during October 2007. There does seem to be some confusion on how this might effect non-UK airsofters entering the country with their Airsoft weapons.
From my understanding, the VCR Bill is designed to stop the importing of Airsoft weapons, and not to stop non-UK players coming in to the country with their Airsoft weapons.
Of course every Airline has their own policy on the transportation of weapons and fire-arms. I would suggest you consult with you Airline to find out what rules and regulations they have on transporting such items.
All non-UK booked players will also recieve a letter of invitation to the event which could be presented to British Customs when entering the UK to prove that you are attending a legitimate Airsoft event during your stay in the UK.
